Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty come and experience peace and tranquillity with outstanding views of the south Cornwall coast.
A simple and uncomplicated site ideal for those looking for relaxation and stunning scenery, the only sounds to break the peace and quiet are the birds and cows or the tractor from our neighbouring farm.
We have 15 large pitches all of a generous size also 5 smaller pitches ideal for walkers and cyclists each pitch having its own free fire pit and picnic bench all with views out to sea and across Mounts Bay
Hi my name is Debbie back in 2016 my late husband Joey and I decided to follow our dream of owning our own piece of land in Cornwall and making it into a campsite. We found a truly amazing place with the most stunning sea views, as soon as we stepped 1 foot on to the land, we knew that this was something special and we needed to share this magical place with everyone. So Easter 2017 with support from Freedom camping club and a lot of help from my parents Dropped Anchor welcomed its first campers, our adventure had begain and our dream had come to true.
(Sorry about the sunglasses)
Dropped Anchor Campsite is approximately 1.5 acres with 15 spacious pitches and 5 smaller pitches around the outside of a large central recreational area
We have the named all the pitches after flowers, trees and plants around the campsite.
The campsite itself is accessed down a no through lane which takes you straight to the entrance gate.
The campsite has a quirky feel with old farm memorabilia dotted around.
Having planted many trees, bushes and pots galore these now show an abundance of colour all year round, along with a small vegetable patch that my dad and I tend to.
The views out to sea and across the peninsula can be truly breathtaking which I say is an ever changing picture. When the skies change colour so does the sea and the peninsula beyond, showing the view to be different all the time.
The view across the bay to Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole is a different story at night where all there lights twinkle in the distance with Tater Du Lighthouse flashing and the boats lighting up on the sea.
With fields all around the campsite and the small hamlet of Rinsey close by all makes for a beautiful picturesque view from your camping pitch.
Dropped Anchor Campsite is all off grid with no electricity on site, all lighting is solar powered, we can charge phones or small power packs on our own solar panels for a small charge.
At present we have no facilities to freeze ice packs but are hopefully looking into a solution for the near future.
With being off grid the light pollution is at minimum, so night skies can be truly breath-taking.
(This picture was taken by one of our campers showing the Milky Way)
Each pitch has its own fire pit either a stone one built into the ground or an old iron pig trough making a very quirky feature.
Logs and kindling can be purchased on site for just £6 for a net bag of kiln dried logs a kindling pack is just £1.75 and not forgetting the all important marshmallows for just £1.25
Such a lovely way to spend the evening relaxing with a glass of wine or hot chocolate talking about the days adventures and what tomorrow holds, looking up at the stars and across the sea to the twinkling boat lights and out to the flashing light house (just perfect)
Dogs are very welcome here on site so come and unwind bring your four legged family member and enjoy the local walks, beaches, scenery and the endless peace and tranquility in a beautiful setting.
Your woofs can stay with no extra charge but I am asking for a small donation towards a local animal charity for their stay but I do ask you to please clean up after them a doggy poop bin is near to the facilities area please keep them under control and not to stray onto other campers pitches please keep them on a lead when using the facilities area or if they have a tendency to wonder and please please clean up after them.
(Please note that some people are scared of dogs so abiding by the rules is important to keep a happy campsite)
There are many all year round dog friendly beaches in the area with the added bonus that the restrictions have been lifted on most other beaches so that dogs are only banned in the day time hours from the1st July to the 31st August.
